Steigra ist eine Kleinstadt in Thüringen mit 1.150 Einwohnern. Sie gehört zum Landkreis Schmalkalden-Meininger und hat eine lange Geschichte als Industriestandort. Im 19. Jahrhundert war sie eine der bekanntesten Webereien in Deutschland und weiten Teilen Europas. Dieser Status als Zentrum der Wollindustrie wurde im 20. Jahrhundert durch die Einführung modernster Fertigungstechniken weiter ausgebaut. Neben der traditionellen Wollproduktion werden in Steigra auch Textilien, Lebensmittel, Fahrzeugteile und Holzprodukte hergestellt. Die Wirtschaft in Steigra ist also sehr vielfältig und ermöglicht den Einwohnern einen modernen und zukunftsfähigen Lebensstil.
