Schwaan ist eine Kleinstadt im Landkreis Rostock in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern mit 5.022 Einwohnern und liegt an der Schwärzemünde, einem Arm der Warnow. Die Stadt ist bekannt für ihre mittelalterliche Architektur, darunter die Schwaaner Kirche aus dem 15. Viele Teile der Stadtmauer sind noch erhalten. Weitere Sehenswürdigkeiten sind das Rittergut Schwaan, mehrere Gutshäuser und ein mittelalterlicher Marktplatz. In Schwaan gibt es zahlreiche Parks, Wanderwege und Naturschutzgebiete, die sich hervorragend für Bootsfahrten, Picknicks und Naturwanderungen eignen. In der Umgebung gibt es zahlreiche Sehenswürdigkeiten, wie das Schloss Bothmer und die Klosterkirche Pommern. Außerdem gibt es eine kleine Universität und mehrere Sportanlagen.
